Man wanted in death of girlfriend arrested in Carmichael

A 25-year-old Sacramento man was taken into custody Friday after a multiple-day manhunt. Jonnyrae Witt is wanted in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Leslie Cramblit, in Yuba County earlier this week.

According to Yuba County Sheriff's deputies, Witt was involved in a domestic violence situation with Cramblit on Sunday when he shot her one time, killing her.

Family members say Cramblit and her boyfriend had an abusive relationship.

"It was so unhealthy. It was the ugliest relationship ever," the victim's sister, Beverly Cramblit, told ABC10. "She was pretty scared of him."

The relationship ultimately ended in the worst way possible.

"He took her from her beautiful kids and family. She didn't deserve that," Cramblit said. "I hope he doesn't ever see daylight again."

Witt was arrested in Carmichael Friday afternoon at a home along Gibbons Drive. Other people inside the home were detained by deputies during the search.

Investigators have been looking for Witt since finding Cramblit on Sunday. At one point on Monday evening, they surrounded a home in Rio Linda because they believed Witt was inside. Ultimately, he was not found at that time.

No word on what information led them to the Carmichael home.
