Do you have a Carbon Monoxide Detector in your home? Most folks need one by July 1.

Beginning July 1, 2011, carbon monoxide detectors will be required in many California homes, including many all electric homes.

Homes that use natural gas, propane or oil to run a furnace, water heater or stove must have carbon monoxide detectors.

But what is catching many people off guard is, the law also applies to all electric homes with a fireplace or an attached garage.

Carbon Monoxide detectors are readily available at local stores, can be found for under $20, and are easy to install.
