Escaped Folsom prison inmate captured

FOLSOM, CA - Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies Friday evening captured a man who had escaped from a work camp at Folsom Prison earlier in the day, according to prison officials.

Stephen Koble was discovered missing from the miminmum-security facility around 7 a.m. Friday, according to prison spokesman Tony Quinn. Quinn said Koble is serving time for a Yolo County burglary conviction, and had an expected parole date in June.

Around 5 p.m. Friday sheriff's deputies found Koble hiding under a pile of leaves on Manzanita Ave in Carmichael.

Sacramento sheriff's deputies shoot man with knife

CARMICHAEL, CA - A Carmichael man is in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound he received after he charged at Sacramento County sheriff's deputies with a knife.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Jason Ramos said deputies received a call after 4:30 a.m. Friday from a resident at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of Marconi Avenue who said she heard gunfire.

When deputies arrived, they went to the apartment where they believed the shots were fired. A man answered the door with a knife in his hands. Ramos said the man then raised the knife over his head and charged the deputies. They then opened fire, hitting the man once in the upper body.

Ramos said the 42-year-old man was taken to the hospital where his injuries were treated.

Ramos said the man will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.  His name has not been released.

Tree topples in Fair Oaks neighborhood

FAIR OAKS, CA - Around 4:45 Thursday afternoon, a neighbor down the street felt the ground shake.  Across the street, Scott Hudson felt it, too, but thought something had happened in his backyard.  Instead, it was out front.  The 80 foot tall pine tree that had stood for years in Randy Burleson's front yard had fallen over.

"Luckily, it didn't hit any cars or houses and no one was injured," Burleson said, obviously saddened by the loss of the tree.

"My wife really liked that tree," he said.

As the massive tree fell over, it ripped out a section of Burleson's concrete driveway and broke a pipe from the water main leading into his home.

The giant branches spread across the street.

"That's usually where I park my car," neighbor Hudson said, "but this was the one time a year I parked it in the driveway!"

Neighbors came out to look; the county is sending a crew out Friday.

The Art of Being You - March 18, 2011

Father and son, Bob and Joel Kilpatrick, joined us to share about their first book together "The Art of Being You" in which they describe a God who is the Master Artist of the lives of each human being.

People are the artistic masterpieces of God-beautifully drawn, brilliantly scored, poetically rendered. The Art of Being You by Bob and Joel Kilpatrick will help you view God as artistic master rather than master mechanic, and see yourself as his finest work rather than as broken and in need of fixing. Your life will be transformed, and your relationship with God will change forever.
